Yield on Cost

Yield on cost measures your dividend income against what you originally paid for a stock, not its current market price. If you bought a stock at $50 and it now pays $4 annually, your yield on cost is 8% — even if the current yield based on today's price is lower. It's a powerful way to see how your income has grown over time.
